Mission Statement

Mission: To promote a cycling community as part of a healthy lifestyle.

This mission shall be accomplished by:

  • conducting rides and other bicycling events
  • providing social opportunities for members
  • promoting bicycle safety
  • supporting local, state, and national bicycling and trail organizations
  • advocating for increased cycling support among the public, government agencies and elected officials

Tours

We take great pride in offering the best bicycle tours in Northern Michigan - the very popular Ride Around Torch on the third Sunday in July and the Leelanau Harvest Tour on the third Saturday in September. The combination of outstanding scenic roads and wonderful volunteers makes for very memorable riding. The funds generated by the Ride Around Torch meet our operational needs while the Leelanau Harvest Tour supports our local trail system.

Social Events

One of the primary reasons we ride together as a club is to be social! In addition to riding together we also plan specific events that bring us together to ride, like a Spring Picnic, Social Saturdays, Pancake Breakfast, Biking for Fiends (BFF) rides, etc. Check our Calendar or the latest Newsletter to find out what's happening.

Time-Honored Traditions

In the winter ride leaders meet to plan the season's ride calendar. Vasa Trail and Adopt-A-Road clean-ups plus the Spring Picnic kick-off the cycling season in April and May. The Club supports Smart Commute Week in June. Then in July and September we hold our two fund raising events (see Tours). In the fall the cycling season winds down with a dinner honoring volunteers and the annual meeting with election of officers just before the holidays.

Meetings

Our Board of Directors meets the first Wednesday of every month. See the Club calendar for time and location. Club members are encouraged to attend. If you have an issue to present to the board, please submit your agenda item to the President at least one week before the next scheduled meeting.
